Is there any risk of running File Master IMS's EXTRACT utility in real-time?
Also what kind of lock it takes when EXTRACT process is executed?
Release : 11.0
Component : FILE MASTER FOR IMS
The EXTRACT is a standard IMS application that only reads from the base.
It can fail if another application holds a segment and that segment is not available for the extract and IMS would return a not-OK status code.
The extract program does not attempt to retry or continue when a bed status code is obtained.
A dynamic PSB or ACB is generated with a PROCOPT(GO) , which allows read only; The locks are those that IMS applies for the PROCOPT(GO).
If the EXTRACT is performed using a static PSB or ACB the locks are whatever the PROCTOPT value in the static PSB or ACB commands.
