Issue/Introduction

We  have a requirement to monitor CRC errors.

Environment

Release : 20.2

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Resolution

There is no way to monitor only CRC Errors in Spectrum out of the box, so this would require a customization by customers who requires this.

We do measure and you can set a threshold on any interface for Total Errors and Total Discards. This can be found in OneClick by viewing the Interface model, Expanding Thresholds and Watches and then Expanding Thresholds. From here you can set a threshold so that you will get an alarm when the error rate breaches the threshold.

Spectrum uses the following OIDs or objects to show “Interface Errors & Discards” for an interface.
ifInErrors (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.14) ifOutErrors (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.20)
Typically “% Error” will be the sum of above two OIDs, divided by “Delta total packets”.
So when polled, if the resulting calculation results in 2% or greater you get the alarm "
