Issue/Introduction

WARNING at CsIHOverCapacity.cc(342): SpectroSERVER is over capacity threshold of 95%, generating 5 performance dumps to determine the source of overload.

Environment

Release : 20.2.x

Component : SPCCSS - Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

VNM -> Self Health Monitoring -> SS Overcapacity is enabled (This is disabled by default).

Resolution

If the SpectroSERVER is busy for an extended amount of time, the analysis of the $SPECROOT/SS/VNM.OUT file and the dmp files created in the $SPECROOT/SS/support directory can be useful to determine the root cause of the issue.

Please open a case with Spectrum Support and include copies of the VNM.OUT and dmp files for analysis.

Please reference the "Self Health Monitoring" section of the documentation for more information.

Additional Information

Please note these dumps aren’t indicative of a performance issue.  The SpectroSERVER will consume cpu and there could be a time when a cpu spike is detected but by the time the SpectroSERVER generates the performance dump files, the thread which caused the cpu spike is processed. Therefore, the analysis of the dmp files may not show the actual root cause of the cpu utilization.
