Issue/Introduction

Can OPS/MVS continually monitor tasks for their CPU usage?

Resolution

OPS/MVS does not offer the capability to continually monitor for CPU usage and thresholds.   The recommendation is to use another product, such as SYSVIEW, for continual monitoring.  

Baring another product, a Time of Day rule could be written to issue a command, then look for a particular response in that display and act accordingly.   These rules can potentially be quite involved, require maintaining if something changes, and could cause a bit of overhead depending on how often they are run.  But the key here is that it would not be continual monitoring, and if that is the need, then the recommendation is to use another product for that sort of activity.
