Issue/Introduction

Universe filtering is not working since the weekend upgrade took place. 

Environment

Release : SAAS

Component : APM SAAS ENTERPRISE

Cause

Per Engineering, this is an expected behavior of the Universes 2.0 feature. added with the latest upgrade SaaS 20.11.0.20


In the past, the universes contained only a topological filter and the metric tree filtering was done on frontend only (the data for all the agents were transferred to the client). In Universes 2.0, there is a new tab, "Metric Sources" when defining the universes that allows the user to specify the metric sources (agents) as well. This is supposed to be filled in when the metric tree is to be filtered and it is not filled in by default for new universes or for migrated original universes.

This behavior was motivated by the fact that we don't want to call NASS (metrics) for each universe evaluation that contains a TAS (topological) filter to improve performance significantly.

Resolution

Reconfigure the Universe per the guide below:
