Issue/Introduction

*** PRODUCT ERROR ALERT ***

Two long-named elements with the same first 10 upper-case characters cannot be created in Endevor Quick-Edit when an element with the same 1st 10 characters already exists.   Errors writing to the MCF file are returned in Quick-Edit.

Environment

Endevor 18.0 ONLY

Cause

If PTF RO92892 is applied and PTF SO04663 IS NOT applied, sites may experience a problem creating long-named elements using Quick-Edit.  RO92892 was included with Increment 18.0.12 and with the final PAX file for release 18.0.  It is important that SO04663 is applied to Endevor v18, if RO92892 has been applied and if Quick-Edit is used to create long-named Elements.

PTF RO92892 was published for Endevor v18.0 in November of 2016 and provided support for long-named elements with Endevor Quick-Edit.  After PTF RO92892 was published, it was discovered that when a long-named element (greater than 10 characters) was created using Quick Edit where the first 10 characters are in upper-case and those characters match an existing element name, an error occurs trying to write to the MCF file.
