CA Identity Manager CA Identity Suite

Issue/Introduction

Administrators may encounter an error message when attempting to delete an account template in the Identity Suite environment, stating that the template is "currently assigned to one or more accounts."

This restriction occurs as a safety mechanism to prevent the accidental removal of templates actively provisioned to users.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.x

Cause

The selected account template is currently linked to one or more user accounts in the Provisioning Directory. Identity Manager prevents the deletion of these templates until all existing user-to-template associations are explicitly removed.

Resolution

Below the steps to fix it:

  1. Launch the Provisioning Manager and authenticate with administrative credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Account Templates section and locate the template identified in the error message.
  3. Right-click the template and select Properties to view the associated user accounts.
  4. Identify the specific users assigned to this template.
  5. If removal is required, navigate to the user's properties or the relevant provisioning role and unassign the template.
  6. Once all associations are cleared, return to the Provisioning Manager and re-attempt the template deletion.
