SYSVIEW: INST0050 and GSVUSECC jobs for the Security File Converstion from R15.0 to R16.0

Issue/Introduction

I created SYSVIEW R16 SMP environment.  I installed R16 FMIDs and current maintenance.  I plan to upgrade a R15 LPAR to R16..  What conversion jobs must I run and at what point do I upgrade the R15 runtime libraries to R16?

Resolution

If you have already done the complete install and then add the maintenance, you will just run the GSVUSECC job to add the feature PTF to the security file.  

If you have applied the base product and the maintenance, without running any of the Install job previously, then the INST0050 job will take care of the conversion needs, and the GSVUSECC will not need to be rerun.  Per the PTF: 

1. Apply the PTF to the installed SMPE environment prior to
running INSTALL to populate SAMPJCL with the installation jobs.
2. The Security Conversion JCL will be generated in SAMPJCL member
INST0050 when the INSTALL JCL is executed. Follow the normal
installation instructions. It will not be necessary to run the
the GSVUCSEC utility in the CNM4BSAM library.
