Issue/Introduction

When executing setup.exe to install AutoSys on a Windows server, the install aborts with the following error...

Feature transfer error

Error: -1605 This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

Environment

Release : 11.3.6

Component : CA Workload Automation AE (AutoSys)

Platform: Windows

Cause

A leftover registry key from a previous AutoSys installation that was not fully uninstalled will cause this issue.

Resolution

Open RegEdit and locate keys that looks like this...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield_{0A0AF97D-153F-468D-B49C-0E032C3D0BD0}

Look at the info in each key and check the value for DisplayName. Find the one where the DisplayName is CA Workload Automation AE...

 

Delete this registry key and retry the installation.
