How does a Data Collector upgrade determine the Data Aggregator Host Name?

How does a Data Collector upgrade determine the Data Aggregator IP Address?

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

Data Collector was previously connected to a different Data Aggregator than currently in use.

Resolution

The Data Collector upgrade install obtains the Data Aggregator Host Name or IP Address from the (default path) /opt/DCM.cfg file.

It looks to the DA_HOST and DA_STANDBY_HOST variables for the Data Aggregator in use.

If these are wrong, correct the value for both variables in the file.

  • Standalone Data Aggregator?
    • Place the correct Data Aggregator Host Name or IP Address in both the DA_HOST and DA_STANDBY_HOST variables.
  • Fault Tolerant Data Aggregators?
    • Place the correct Active Data Aggregator Host Name or IP Address in the DA_HOST variable.
    • Place the correct Inactive or Maintenance Data Aggregator Host Name or IP Address in the DA_STANDBY_HOST variable.

After saving the changes to the DCM.cfg file, re-run the upgrade install. It should now show in it's summary the correct Data Aggregator Host Name or IP Address. If it does proceed with the upgrade.a
