Issue/Introduction

Running a CA Panvalet job executing PAN#1 and receiving CA MIM messages MIM1038I and MIM1039I every 2 seconds like this:

MIM1038I jobname JOBnnnnn A=nnnn T=xxxxxx contention with xxxxxx
                                                      A=nnnn T=xxxxxx OWNS EXCL on xxxx                                  
MIM1039I jobname JOBnnnnn A=nnn T=xxxxxx needs EXCL SPFEDIT     
                                                      dsn(member)

Resolution

The problem is resolved by CA Panvalet PTF SO09917.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                           
When a user has an active edit session on a PDS member,        
which is used as input or output to batch process.             
The batch job waits for 2 seconds and then retries the         
enqueue on SPFEDIT in order to preserve data integrity.        
 ( NOTE : SPFEDIT is default overriden by QNPDS= in FGPAN23)   
This process is repeated 128 times producing a large           
number of messages to console and user holding the enqueue.    
This solution will increase the wait time                      
and reduce the iterations.                                     

If the PTF is applied, ensure that the batch job does not use a JOBLIB or STEPLIB pointing to a loadlib without the PTF applied.
