When performing their last DR test, a new, empty View database was created for the test. Being empty, none of the users profiles existed and users had to have their profiles changed in order to participate in the test.
Is there a way to just back up user profiles and restore them into the a new View database at a DR test?
Release : 14.0
Component : CA View
Of the user profile settings, CA View's mode settings, for new users, are determined by SARINIT parameter DEFMODE=xxxxxx (default DEFMODE=YNNNNN).
In the default, a user is only assigned ALL mode (Y in the first DEFMODE position).
This would especially happen with a new and empty database.
As the user settings are kept in the View index, running SARDBASE IDXOUT will provide a backup of them, however there is no way to isolate the users only.
It was suggested that, if it is the same users at DR, a procedure would be to:
. At the end of DR:
. . At the View Primary panel, issue command "def user" to bring up the user list.
. . Cut-and-paste or do a screen print of the panel that shows the user settings.
. . Scroll right [F11] and do a screen print of the panel to show the user settings.
. At the start of new DR:
. . Have each user log in to View.
. . At the View Primary panel, issue command "def user" to bring up the user list.
. . Update each user with the settings from the end of the previous DR.
