The Vantage WEB Client (Vantage Storage Point) is not able to connect

Issue/Introduction

The following error is occurring:

 

Communication error. Please check the host IP address or port number. Then try the action again.   We have the below error in SAMS*   VAN0850E TCP/IP Request: INITAPI       failed, ERRNO=  1011               GENTCPSV FAILED DURING INITIALIZATION                                     VAN1560I Pools Component Started                                         VAN0842I TCP/IP Interface successfully shut down         Even updating the correct TCP/IP task is getting the same error.

Resolution

This is due to the new IP addresses being used for the new LPARs. A modification of the HOST definition of the Vantagedb is needed.

Connect using the APP user for the Vantagedb (in case you need to find its password, go to the correct Web Client installation OMVS path in the install directory, then locate the file "vantagegmi.log".  At the bottom of this file you will find the password to use with the APP userid).  When logged in Vantage using the APP user, modify the host IP address in the host definition to use the new IP address.
