Not able to do silent upgrade of Admin UI v12.8

Issue/Introduction

We are trying to do silent upgrade of Admin UI from v12.7 to v12.8 on Linux. 

The installation completes successfully but still the Admin UI is not working from the browser. It gives page can't be found.

Release : 12.8.03

Component : SITEMINDER WAM UI

Cause

The Silent upgrade of the WAMUI does not function as documented under 
https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/identity-security/siteminder/12-8/upgrading/in-place-upgrade/upgrade-an-administrative-ui.html

In these steps you, you would first perform an in-place upgrade of the Adminui. 
Then use the properties files from that upgrade to perform the silent upgrade of the next AdminUI Server(s). 

However, When you run the command ...
./adminui-pre-req-12.8-sp03-linux-x86-64.bin -f prerequisite-installer.properties -i silent 
Where prerequisite-installer.properties is the properties file from the Manual upgrade. 
It still uses the path from the actual deployed version.
/siteminder/adminui/install_config_info/prerequisite-installer.properties

 

 

 

Resolution

1.  You need to use the installer installer.properties files in both Base version, and new installation me
2. Make sure to have ACCEPT_LGPL_EULA=yes in the prerequisite-installer.properties which is present in “12.7 CA/siteminder/adminui/install_config_info"
3.  Execute silent installation commands from installation media folder.
   1. for prerequisite-installer
      ./adminui-pre-req-12.8-sp03-linux-x86-64.bin -f CA/siteminder/adminui/install_config_info/prerequisite-installer.properties -i silent
      This is the same file already deployed with the 12.7 installer.
   2.  for adminui installer
      /ca-adminui-12.8-sp03-linux-x86-64.bin -f smwamui-installer.properties -i silent
      NOTE: This is the file created during the 12.8 upgrade.
