Issue/Introduction

When running Automic Applications Manager version 9.3.3, does it require creation of “user_keystore” and “user_keystore_config” files on the Automation Engine and client machines?

Environment

Release : 9.3.3

Component : APPLICATIONS MANAGER

Java : Java Runtime Environment 1.8.0_131

Cause

A custom SSL certificate must be configured for connection authentication by creating "user_keystore" and "user_keystore_config" files on the Automation Engine and client machines.

Resolution

Automic Applications Manager version 9.3.3, requires the creation of “user_keystore” and “user_keystore_config” files on the Automation Engine and client machines for connection authentication utilizing a custom SSL certificate.

The reasoning behind this configuration is the idea that using your own certificate prevents unauthorized connections between connection endpoints.

This configuration was available in prior versions of Automic Application Manager (AM) version 9.3.X but became a requirement as of Application Manager (AM) version 9.3.3 for increase security reasons.

Additional Information

The Certificates can either be signed from a Public Certification Authority (CA) and they can be Self-Signed.
