Issue/Introduction

While attempting to refresh the SMSSPARE Object in the CA Vantage GUI (on 'Spare volume on storage group'), the following message appears in the SAMS log:

VKG0845E  - VANCSMSA Not authorized by STGADMIN or DFSMShsm AUTH DBA.

Cause

SECURHSM is set to YES (the default ) and therefore extra levels of authority checking are performed.

Resolution

Add SECURHSM (N) to the VKGPARMS or ensure correct level of authority with the security tool in place.

VKGPARMS Parameter Descriptions

The following checks are performed for HSM commands:

1. RACROUTE REQUEST=AUTH,CLASS=FACILITY,ENTITIY=value-from-STGADMIN-vkgparm
2. If no READ access to #1, and SECURHSM(Y), then a check is done to see if the user is defined as DBA to HSM
3. If not defined as DBA and the request is for a dataset, then ALTER access it checked for the DSN
