How does the on-premise appliance synchronize its time?

Resolution

The on-premise appliance uses the VM tools package to synchronize its time from the host ESXi environment.  The host must be configured to pass its time to the guest OS in order for this to function.

When this is properly configured on the host, there is no need to utilize NTP on the appliance for time synchronization as the host should have NTP configured on it.
