Issue/Introduction

How do I transfer over any alerts that are setup in our older APM environment? We have setup a new APM environment and we would like to transfer alerts to new APM environment.

Environment

Release : 10.7.0

Component : Introscope

Resolution

You can not transfer just alerts, you need to transfer the complete management module.

Here are the steps that you need to follow to transfer a management module from an APM environment to a new APM environment.

First confirm that the management module items (i.e metric groupings, alerts, dash boards and actions) do not depend on items defined in other management modules.

If this is the case, then you need to transfer both management modules (the management module where the alerts are defined and any dependent management module).

Select the management module and note down the management module JAR file name.

You will see this JAR file at <EM-HOME>/config/modules

On the new APM environment, stop both Enterprise Manager service and Webview service.

Place the management module JAR file(s) at <EM-HOME>/config/modules in new APM environment.

If there is a name conflict, then you need to decide which one to use, or change the management module name and management module JAR file name in older environment and then move.

start Enterprise Manager service and then after 5 minutes start Webview service.
