Issue/Introduction

Upgrading from CA 7 r11.3 to 12.1. The JCL for CA 7 r11.3 makes reference to datasets which no longer necessary to include in the JCL for CA 7 r12.1. When upgrading from CA 7 r11.3 to r12.1 do we still use the same datasets in the JCL for CA 7 r12.1 that we are using in the JCL for CA 7 r11.3?.

These datasets are represented in release CA 7 11.3 and 12.1 by the following JCL DDNAMES:

UCC7LOGP, UCC7CMDS, UCC7STAT, UCC7CKPT, UCC7SCRQ, UCC7DQTQ, BROWSE, UCC7CMDS

Can these datasets from CA 7 11.3 be used or must these datasets for CA7 12.1 be completely new allocations of the datasets represented by the above DDNAMEs?

Resolution

Regarding datasets represented in release CA7 11.3 and 12.1 by the following JCL DDNAMES: UCC7LOGP, UCC7CMDS, UCC7STAT, UCC7CKPT, UCC7SCRQ, UCC7DQTQ, BROWSE, UCC7CMDS

Regarding these datasets on current 11.3 CA 7 Production System.

Need to make sure you Quiesce processing on your current CA 7 System and let as many jobs as possible complete successfully so that the queues are as empty as possible.

UCC7LOGP
In CA 7, issue a /SWAP and let the LOGS log dump job execute successfully. This will keep your Reporting Data on the History Log dataset that can be used on CA 7 12.1 Environment.

UCC7STAT
Keep UCC7STAT dataset as it will be used to copy to UCC7STAT 12.1 dataset so that you can keep all your Statistics.

UCC7DMPQ
Issue /SHUTDOWN,Z5 to shut down the Release 11.3 system and create a DMPQ data set.

That’s all that is required with these datasets on 11.3.

Create all new datasets on 12.1

Use IEBGENER to copy UCC7STAT sequential dataset from 11.3 to new 12.1 UCC7STAT sequential dataset so that you can keep all your Statistics.

That’s all that is required with these datasets on 12.1.

Create all new 11.3 datasets.

Use IEBGENER to copy UCC7STAT sequential dataset from 12.1 to 11.3 UCC7STAT sequential dataset so that you can keep all your Statistics that was created while on CA 7 12.1.

That’s all that is required with these datasets on 11.3.
