ESF1805 //ESFNODE update failed with RC=04 at shutdown after upgrade to R14.

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to R14 I'm seeing this failed message at CA SPOOL shutdown.    

OPERATOR 15:09:21 SHUTDOWN
OPERATOR 15:09:21 >ESF1805 //ESFNODE update failed with RC=04
OPERATOR 15:09:21 >ESF801  SHUTDOWN COMMAND ACCEPTED
OPERATOR 15:09:26 >ESF101  ESF WAITING FOR WORK
OPERATOR 15:09:26 >ESF305  VIRTUAL PRINTER INTERFACE TERMINATED

Cause

The cause is that the Online Printer Configuration support is not active.

New feature: Online Printer Configuration feature is an alternative to using TSO/ISPF Edit to update a printer configuration in the ESFPARM deck, and then issuing a CA Spool native REINIT command.

 

 

Resolution

If you are not going to use the new feature you can ignore the message or you can add a

//ESFNODE DD DUMMY statement to your CAIQPOOL procedure.
