Issue/Introduction

Unable to model by ip a Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance device in Spectrum

Environment

Release : Any

Component : Spectrum Discovery

Cause

When you model by ip a device in Spectrum, Spectrum first reads two mib attributes to try and determine what type of device it is to decide what model type to use to model the device.

The two attributes it reads are:

sysObjectID at 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2

sysDescr at 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1

When looking at a sniffer trace run on the SpectroSERVER system when modeling the device, we see the device returns "noSuchObject" for both of these attributes.

Without this data, Spectrum cannot model the device by ip.

Resolution

This is a device mib support issue that needs to be addressed by the vendor.
