Issue/Introduction

We have noticed multiple times that whenever we switch back to primary after a failover from the secondary SS we get multiple Bad Link Detected alarms for the interfaces which were down since a long time ago.

Environment

Release : 10.3

Component : Spectrum Alarm & Event Management

Cause

There was a firewall blocking access to the devices on the secondary fault tolerant SpectroSERVER

Resolution

The new alarms for Bad Link Detected were due to the fact that the devices are reachable on the primary but not the secondary.  When the failover occurs the Bad Link Detected is cleared because when the secondary takes over Spectrum creates a new Management Agent Lost alarm which suppresses the interface alarm. When the primary comes back up a new Bad Link Detected alarm is created.

To resolve this you need to fix the communication from the device to the fault tolerant SpectroSERVER.
