Users cannot access reports with Web Viewer 14.0

Issue/Introduction

Users are now getting this error when trying to filter reports in CA View MTC Content Viewer- Web Viewer 14.0

This is not a requirement to get reports filtered in CA VIEW traditional mainframe interface

Why is it required in Web Content Viewer ?

Cause

Web Viewer always tries to set the mode and distid in the filter panel even though it's not changed by the user.

 

Resolution

 

1. Issue a 'DEF USER' command in 3270.
2. Locate the distid of the user having the failure.
3. On the first screen you will see a header 

       AEESSJ

        O O  

 

    4. These are your modes.  if there is a 'y' in a column you have that mode access

 

       ex: 

       AEESSJ

        O O  
      YYNNNN

 

this user only has ALL and EXPO mode abilities and can switch between them.

 

5.  Now, page to your right and you will see   the distid mask and distid, for example

Your distid mask will further determine whos distid you can change to...  '*'  indicates all distid's

 

In the meantime to resolve the problem, grant access to the user for the distid.  The STC will also need access to the distid.

 

Additional Information

A distid mask of   '*'  is not typical for general users (could be a security nightmare).
