vApp Deployment fails to propagate External Database configuration to some of vApp nodes

Issue/Introduction

VApp deployment fails to propagate External Database configuration to some of vApp nodes. The symptoms of the problem can be vary, e.g.
   a. IM, IP, IG cannot run properly on the affected vApp nodes because it fails to connect to the external database
   b. Accessing the vApp dashboard on the affected vApp nodes shows the External Database box has only Status item. There are no Identity Manager, Identity Portal or Identity Governance items.

   c. Running vApp deployment on affected vApp nodes fails with "Selected configuration is not valid" error

Environment

Release : vApp 14.3 with or without vApp patches
Component : CA IDENTITY SUITE (VIRTUAL APPLIANCE)

Cause

This is a known vApp issue recorded in DE480404

Resolution

There is available fix to address this issue. Please raise a Technical Support call ticket and request for HF-DE480404-20201007-0002.tar.gpg fix which is attached to DE480404 ticket.

And do the following steps to address the issue
   a. Create VM snapshot of all the vApp nodes to backup
   b. Apply HF-DE480404-20201007-0002.tar.gpg on all vApp nodes
   c. Access the vApp dashboard of non-affected vApp, go to its Setup screen and click Deploy to deploy again without changing any configuration
