Issue/Introduction

Can you please provide input on below IDM questions?

What’s the avg payload size and number of transactions/min that IDM can process?
What is the minimum latency (in ms) that is required for a response?

Environment

Release : 14.3, 14.4

Component : CA IDENTITY SUITE (VIRTUAL APPLIANCE)

Resolution

There are no published performance benchmarks for Identity Manager, as customer implementations vary from one use case to another as does performance. However, Engineering's performance testing on IDM 14.2 (14.3 results should be similar) showed the following.

In a single, standalone IDM environment with only one Windows server (14 GB RAM, 4 CPUs) The application processed on average of 210 to 480 tasks per minute.

The tasks included Self Registration, Create User, Modify User, Reset Password, etc. The lower figure was for complex configurations and the higher values for simpler configurations.

A complex environment would require each task to evaluate 1000 identity policies, for example.

There are numerous variables that affect performance including the complexity of tasks, amount and type of custom code, number of roles, policies, provisioned endpoints and workflows and web services.

Environmental factors like network and database performance are also important.
