Issue/Introduction

If mdb database should be installed remotely, Microsoft SQL Tools should be installed on Domain Manager.
How to install Microsoft SQL Tools on Domain Manager for a remote Microsoft SQL Server 2016 ?
 

Environment

Client Automation 14.0 (All Service Packs)
Microsoft SQL Server 2016
 

Resolution

1- Download and install SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

2- Download and install Microsoft Command Line Utilities 15 for SQL Server (x64) (2.6 MB)
https://docs.microsoft.com/fr-fr/sql/tools/sqlcmd-utility?view=sql-server-ver15
 

3- From SQL Server with Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 
Copy the files 
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\130\Tools\Binn\OSQL.EXE 
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\130\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033\osql.rll

on Domain Manager under
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Client SDK\ODBC\170\Tools\Binn
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Client SDK\ODBC\170\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033
 
 
 
4- From SQL Server with Microsoft SQL Server 2016,
Copy the files
C:\Windows\System32\msvcr120.dll
C:\Windows\System32\msvcp120.dll
C:\Windows\system32\msodbcsql13.dll
C:\Windows\system32\1033\msodbcsqlr13.rll
 
On Domain Manager in equivalent directories 
 
 
 
5- From SQL Server with Microsoft SQL Server 2016, export the registry keys 
 
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Driver 13 for SQL Server
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\130\Tools\ClientSetup\CurrentVersion
 
and import them on Domain Manager
 
 
 
6- On Domain Manager open a command prompt and test that osql.exe command is working fine and could connect to remote SQL Server:
 
osql -S "SQLServerName\InstanceName"  -d master -E -e -b -Q "exit(SELECT count(*)+100000 FROM master..sysdatabases WHERE name = 'mdb')"
 
This should give a result like :
