When using the Gen Diagram Trace Utility (DTU), getting the error message 'Periodic Workspace Save'

Issue/Introduction

When using the Diagram Trace Utility (DTU), getting the error message 'Periodic Workspace Save' has encountered a problem.  An internal error occurred during: 'Periodic Workspace Save'.   Users can continue using the DTU but error occurs multiple times.

Resolution

This error message is an eclipse error and indicates the Diagram Trace Utility (DTU) workspace has been corrupted, the Gen DTU was built using eclipse.  To resolve this error: 

1.  Stop the DTU  

2.  Goto the directory 'C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\CA\Gen 8.6\cfg'

3. There should be directory called 'DiagramTrace', rename the directory (i.e. 'DiagramTrace.save') and launch/use the DTU.
