Issue/Introduction

Upgraded to OC 20.3 and the wasp probe will not start.

Aug 11 14:02:19:893 ERROR [attach_socket, com.nimsoft.nimbus.NimServerSession] Exception in NimServerSessionThread.run.  Closing session.

Caused by: java.io.EOFException: End of stream while trying to read header
 at com.nimsoft.nimbus.NimSessionBase.readNimbusHeader(NimSessionBase.java:1080)
 at com.nimsoft.nimbus.NimSessionBase.recv(NimSessionBase.java:883)

This can be seen in scenarios where older/deprecated webapps are still present in the wasp probe.

Environment

  • UIM 20.3.x or higher

Cause

This specific wasp issue was caused by the selfcert portlet not being deleted upon upgrade.

Resolution

1. Open the wasp probe in raw configure mode.

2. Change the selfcert 'load_on_startup' key to false. 

3. Deactivate the wasp probe, and then activate it.

4. When wasp shows a port and a pid launch the probe utility.

5. Click once on the controller probe to highlight it.

Press Ctrl-p to open the probe utility.

6. From the pulldown select inst_pkg_remove

7. Enter ump_selfcert in the package section and press play.

8. Close the probe utility.

9. Open wasp raw configure again and remove the selfcert section, click on selfcert, then press 'Delete Section.'

10. Press Ok and close window.

11. Deactivate the wasp probe.

12. Backup and then delete the following folders.

13. Restart the wasp probe then restart the robot. You do not have to wait for wasp to fully start before restarting the robot.
