After saving a new report in Xtraction 2019 or 2020 in Excel format, it displays the error "Excel cannot open the file....."

Issue/Introduction

After saving a new Xtraction report in version 2019 or 2020 in Excel format, tt displays the error "Excel cannot open the file, because the file format or the file extension is not valid".

Environment

Xtraction 2019 and 2020

All Supported Windows Operating Systems

Resolution

Received confirmation from Xtraction support that this behavior is a bug that has been accepted by their engineering team as defect 75117 and will be fixed in a future release.

This defect will be fixed in a future Xtraction release and will eventually make it into the product, but medium and high priority fixes take priority so it is unlikely that this defect will be addressed in the next Xtraction release.

Xtraction is not able to provide an accurate timeline for low priority defects because they do not know what other higher priority defects might arise as time goes on.
