Issue/Introduction

One of our customers wants to monitor the devices listed below under UIM (Nimsoft) monitoring. Could you please confirm if these devices can be monitored by UIM (Nimsoft). If yes, could you please provide some documentation or techdocs links including probe name by which these devices can be monitor.

2) IBM Storage - IBM storage 5010  (Flashsystem)

3) Dell DD - Dell EMC -Data Domain is modern data protection storage system for the midsized enterprise.

4) Tape Library

Environment

  • Release: 9.2.0
  • Component: UIM - INSTALL

Cause

  • Monitoring Requirements

Resolution

1. HMC

HMC can be monitored via the ibmvm_rest probe.
https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/ca-enterprise-software/it-operations-management/ca-unified-infrastructure-management-probes/GA/alphabetical-probe-articles/ibmvm-rest-ibm-powervm-monitoring-using-rest.html

2) IBM Storage - IBM storage 5010 (Flashsystem)

This is not directly supported through a particular probe but it can be monitored via SNMP. It is not in the list of certified devices for snmpcollector, so you can either self-certify it or submit a certification request so it can be monitored out of the box via snmpcollector.

3) Dell DD - Dell EMC-Data Domain is modern data protection storage system for the midsized enterprise.

>>>Same answer as #2.

5) SAN Switch 8960 F24(Brocade)

- Brocade Switches are supported but the '8960 F24' is not specifically mentioned/supported.

6) Tape Library TS4300 and TS3500 Tape Library

- Not currently supported. Requires Self-Certification or Device Certification process to be followed.

7) Firewall Cisco Firepower 4112 Security Appliance

- Not currently supported. Requires Self-Certification or Device Certification process to be followed.

8) Cisco Switch 10G(Catalyst 9500 16-port) and 1G 9200

- Not currently supported. Requires Self-Certification or Device Certification process to be followed.

Please note that anything that can leverage the use of SNMP, can be monitored by the snmpcollector probe.

If a device is not currently supported, your options include:

Self-Certification

If you would like to self-certify the device (using the ump self certification app), see the video and text content at:
