Issue/Introduction

Privileged Access Management (PAM) Application to Application (A2A) client 4.12 not working with Windows 10, while installing we get an error "Failed to register cspmclientatl.dll". However the installation did complete after click OK. The CSPMCLIENTD service is not available. There is no error log created either.

Environment

Component : PRIVILEGED ACCESS MANAGEMENT

Resolution

To get some additional information as to why that windows machine denied the registration open a Command Prompt with Run as an administrator option and run the following command:

  • regsvr32 cspmclientatl.dll

This should either manually register the DLL or give you more information as to why it did not load

Additional Information

Another occurrence of this issue was on a Windows 2019 Hyper-V server that was customized with a UI.

Once installed on a Windows 2019 Server (Non-HyperV), everything worked.
