Issue/Introduction

Is it possible to setup snmptd without a correlating MIB

Environment

Release : 9.0.2 +

Component : UIM - SNMPTD

Resolution

You will either have to have one of the already installed mib(s) to report on the trap that you send (if it uses any of those and they apply to your situation). Alternatively you should reach out to the device manufacture for the mib files that they provide for trap receivers. Either way you need a mib loaded that can interpret the trap coming into snmptd:

The reason for this is that as the data comes in each OID has a data type, and without the mib it can be difficult to determine what the desired data type was.
