Is there an example on where SYSVIEW OBID Table is used?
Release : 20.0
Component : CA SYSVIEW Performance Management Option for DB2 for z/OS
The product uses a OBID table, which is allocated by the Data collector in parm OBID-DSN. The file contains a relation between obid/dbid and object name, extracted from the DB2 tables by using the utility in job IDOBLOAD.
The OBID Table is used in various IQL based online screens to facilitate the translation of the numeric DBID/OBID fields, found in some Ifcid records, into their actual object names. It is also used in several Batch Reports.
If you did not provide an OBID Table, the only effect would be that the object names would appear as their DBID/OBID values. It would not cause
the IQL or Report to stop functioning.
If you don't run the IDB2OBI utility regularly to keep the obid dataset up to date, and you do drop and recreate/create objects such that they get a different dbid/obid.
You could suffer some miss reporting because we are using an out of date obid data set with outdated references.
Also if enabled, the data in the OBID table is used to drive some database exceptions (extents, space utilization).
The locate for these exceptions may fail, but should not cause any harm.SSID of DBGI.
