Issue/Introduction

How to Monitor Device (Fortigate 3000), configured as a cluster MASTER and SLAVE sharing the same IP.
- MASTER went down and the SLAVE came up with the same IP, Spectrum did not pickup that the device was down.

Environment

Release : 10.x

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

That is possible if each Fortigate device has its own unique IP address in addition to sharing the virtual.

Also check to see if Fortigate has a mib attribute to specify if it is the master or the slave.

Resolution

From Spectrum we do not support it however as part of solution " you can create IMT watch to detect a change and alarm if there is a change "

The tech doc is more or less just showing you how to prevent duplicate alarms when both primary and backup are modeled.
