Issue/Introduction

When trying to upload an upgrade patch (in this case, CAPAM_3.4.1.p.zip) to the PAM Management Console, the following error occurs.

PAM-UI-2724: Missing metadata element: MAXVERSION

Environment

Privileged Access Manager, Management Console

Cause

One reason why this error will occur is when /tmp does not have enough space to upload the .zip file and extract it. The amount of free space in /tmp must be at least twice the size of the .zip file since it will be temporarily extracted to /tmp/<patchname>.

Resolution

The /tmp directory on the PAM appliance is equal to half the amount of RAM allocated to the appliance in VMware. Increase the amount of RAM for the appliance in order to allow enough space in /tmp for the patch to be uploaded.

Additional Information

Please refer to the documentation link below for the minimum required RAM for a PAM appliance.
