Issue/Introduction

I would like to configure a probe so that it only runs during certain hours.

For example, during business hours only, or to stop during certain times.

How can this be accomplished?

Environment

DX UIM - Any version

Resolution

  1. Locate the probe on the robot where it is running in Infrastructure Manager. Make sure the probe is currently running as this must be configured on an actively running probe.
  2. Right-click the running probe and choose "Edit...." from the menu.  (NOT Configure!)
  3. This will bring up a screen showing the details of probe execution.
  4. Leave the type as "daemon" and define the run window:  "From" is when the probe should start, and "To" is when it should be stopped.

The following example shows the cdm probe configured to run only 5 minutes per day, from 12:15 to 12:20pm:

The following example shows the logmon probe configured NOT to run for 5 minutes per day: Each day at 12:19pm, it shuts down for 5 minutes, starting up again at 12:24pm.

When the "inactive" period is reached, the probe will still show its status as "active" and still show green in Infrastructure Manager but without a port/pid assigned as in the following example for cdm:
