Issue/Introduction

You have installed a new Clarity server, and would like to set up a database schema

Environment

Release : Any

Resolution

Set Clarity with a blank schema on a new install:

  1. On the newly installed Clarity server, go to $clarity/database/backups, it will contain the blank schema database dumps for MSSQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL
  2. Ask the DBA to restore the appropriate for your vendor backups for Clarity and DWH (total of two)
  3. Once the restores are done, get the connection details from the DBA and enter it in CSA:
    • Clarity connection on page Database
    • Hit Save and ensure the connection is Available
    • Data Warehouse on page Data Warehouse
    • Enter DBLINK name
    • Hit Save twice and ensure the connection is Available
  4. Restart the services

This should ensure that you're connecting to the new vanilla schema.

Note: the restored backups will always be the base version with no patches. If you need a patch to be applied, you have to do it after you restore the database
