Issue/Introduction

How do you determine if you are using the latest Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) 7.9, 8.2, etc. .NET SDK?

Resolution

1. Download and examine the Protection Engine archive from Broadcom Support Portal -> My Downloads.
2. After logging in, in the Download section, look for the SPE downloads.
3. The SPE archive contains material for SPE:
   The .zip file Symantec_Protection_Engine_CS_<version>_Windows_IN.zip contains:
   • Scan Engine
   • Symantec_Protection_Engine_SDK
   • CSharp
   • symcsmsnetapi.dll
4. Extract symcsmsnetapi.dll
5. In Windows Explorer, right click on symcsmsnetapi.dll
6. Click Details

File version contains the version of the file, to ensure the use of the correct version to what is installed.
