Issue/Introduction

What is the difference between "Last Event Time" and "Last Event Time (Instant Polling)" in the Spectrum Report Manager SPECTRUM Status page?

Environment

Release : 10.4.1 and higher

Component : Spectrum Report Manager

Resolution

The "Last Event Time (Instant Polling)" field in the Spectrum Report Manager SPECTRUM Status page was introduced in with the release of Spectrum 10.4.1.

The old 10.4.1 "DX NetOps Spectrum Report Manager Improvements" section of the documentation, which is no longer available, described it as follows:

Ability to customize the SRM reporting interval

In prior releases, SRM was collecting and sending inventory, alarms, events, services, and NCM data at 60 minutes intervals from DX NetOps Spectrum and was publishing the report.

From 10.4.1 onwards, a new parameter: instant_event_poller_processing_interval was added to allow customization of the polling interval. This parameter lets the SRM process only the model create/destroy events at five minute intervals by default, you can however, configure this polling interval. All other events are processed at 60 minutes of the interval. The configuration helps you get the updated inventory data in the report based on the configured interval rather than the regular 60 minutes time frame.

*Note: From 21.2.4 the alarm handler was moved back to the regular poller and is no longer a part of the instant.

Additional Information

We can change the value on the Report Manager Preferences page. Log into the OneClick admin web UI. Go to Administration->Report Manager->Preferences. Modify the instance_event_poller_processing_interval value as needed.
