Issue/Introduction

Request is to schedule a batch job on an adhoc basis, but only to run if certain STCs are active.  AUTO-SCHD allows ad-hoc scheduling, and the RESOURCE member seems to allow a dependence on certain STCs being active.  Can  AUTO-SCHD work with the RESOURCEs member when there is no SCL involved?

Environment

Release : 11.0

Component : JOBTRAC

Resolution

AUTO-SCHD will not work with the RESOURCE member when there is no SCL involved.

A possible solution is to load an SCL with the highest number of jobs estimated to run by day and let them all waiting for the external submissions.

If some jobs are left pending at the end of the day then use an abort time of 23:59. For example, to define 5 jobs named AUTOJOB1 with the Q dependency and using a resource named EF:

The resource EF would be defined as:

RESOURCE=EF/JOB=STC001
Where STC001 is the started task these jobs depend on.

When this SCL is loaded there will be the 5 jobs waiting submission:

By the end of the day (at 23:59) the jobs that are still "AWAITING SUBMISSION" will be aborted.
