Issue/Introduction

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14.3 is creating .dat files in C:\Windows\Temp.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 14.3 RU1. For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, see Download the latest version of Symantec software here.

Workaround

  1. Go to Admin > Servers > Site Properties
  2. Select the Data Collection tab
  3. Uncheck "Let clients send troubleshooting information to Symantec to resolve product issues faster"
  4. Select OK

 

Note: The above setting is applied across all the Symantec Endpoint Protection Managers (SEPM's) in replication, to avoid the dat files created when the SEP client moves to different SEPMs.
