Issue/Introduction

A GETFILE performed from the AS/400 with files with special characters (Á, ó) and ANSI encoding are received from the Windows server without problems. However, when the files have UTF-8 (unicode) encoding, they arrive at the iSeries with two 2 null bytes instead of the special character.
Is there any way to correct this.

Environment

  • XCOM™ Data Transport® for Windows
  • XCOM™ Data Transport® for AS/400 i5/OS

Cause

Support for UTF-8 encoding is not yet available on XCOM for AS/400 i5/OS

Resolution

Not at the current time. XCOM for AS/400 does not currently support UTF-8 encoding. XCOM for Windows does, but you have to specify parameters designed for UTF-8. Both sides would have to have support for UTF_8 encoding.

Additional Information
