Issue/Introduction

1. I shut down the robot on the host.
2. I removed the robot from IM
3. I added the following lines to the robot config when a host has multiple ip addresses.
local_ip_validation = no
strict_ip_binding = yes
ip_version = ipv4

4. I turned the robot back on.

The robot shows up in IM but I can't open any of the probes or the controller as I get communication error.

Environment

Release : 20.1

Component : UIM - ROBOT

Resolution

  • Open the controller GUI
  • Select Setup
  • Select the IP tab
  • Under Robot IP-address section, specify the desired/preferred IP to use under the Set specific address(es) field
    • (the raw configure setting is robotip = <robot ip address>
  • Click Apply and restart the robot

The following raw configure keys can be used in the robot.cfg to force the robot to explicitly listen ONLY on the defined address above:

strict_ip_binding=yes
local_ip_validation=no

Additional Information

In this particular case, this is what the customer had to do:

Stop the robot.

Add the following lines to the robot config if not already present.

local_ip_validation = no
strict_ip_binding = yes
ip_version = ipv4

Rt-click and remove the robot from IM

Start the robot.

Set the robotip to the desired/preferred IP  address.

Make sure the robotip is not already set/configured with the wrong IP address.
