Issue/Introduction

The portal shared.js file is growing in size and is causing performance problems as the end users browser downloads this file.  This has resulted in the login times increasing from a couple of seconds to a minute or more.

Cause

The shared.js file is an internal cache of user, group, roll, and other data that portal needs to function and its size will increase over time.

Environment

Release : 14.3

Component : CA IDENTITY SUITE (VIRTUAL APPLIANCE)

Resolution

Before any changes, please ensure that CP2 for 14.3 has been applied.  There was an issue where the cache was being rebuilt during each login resulting in an increase in the time it takes to access the Portal:

Once at 14.3 Cp2 has been applied, to reduce the size of the shared.js you can clear the Portals cache from the Admin UI, Tools, clear Cache:

It is advisable that you also clear the end users browser cache as well.
