Issue/Introduction

The client is currently upgrading from Intertest CICS release 9.1  to Intertest release 11. Can the client use the PROTCPF checkpoint file that was defined and initialized in release 9.1? Or does the client have to define a new PROTCPF file using the release 11 define cluster JCL ?

It would be easier just to point to the existing r 9.1 PROTCPF file as the client migrates their CICS regions to release 11.

Resolution

The Intertest CICS release 9.1 PROTCPF file can be used by release 11. The format has not changed and it does not have to be reinitialized.

But each region has to have a unique PROTCPF file. You cannot share the file between release 9.1 and release 11 at the SAME time.
