VCA_VS reveals DAAEFDS=0 for VSAM dataset that shows EXTENDED (under LISTCAT / ATTRIBUTES)

Issue/Introduction

The following data element might not be correctly populated 
in the VSAM Data Set Allocation (VCA_VS) file:

Cause

The problem was caused during a workfile merge process where
the valid value of DAAEFDS was sometimes overlaid by an     
invalid value of zero, for sites using the MAINSTAR utility 
MVF00010 to update catalogs.                                

Data element DAAEFDS contains zero for some data sets,      
where an IDCAMS LISTCAT report shows the EXTENDED attribute.

As a result, Reports or analysis of extended format data sets might yield
incorrect results.
