Issue/Introduction

There is a necessity to automatically save the results of a report to a location, without the need for a person to be running or checking the process.

Environment

ITMS 8.X

Cause

The results of a specific report started to grow a lot, becoming impossible to send it as an email through an Automation Policy.

Resolution

To create a Connector that will be able to save the content of a report to a specific location, you need to walk through the following steps:

  1. Go to Console > Settings > All Settings > Notification Server > Connector > Data Source
    1. Right-click on the "Data Source" folder and select "New > CSV File Data Source"



    2. Give a name to the newly created Data Source
    3. Configure all the settings under the new Data Source created. Here is an example of how to do it:

    4. Save all the changes made so far.

  2. Go to Console > Settings > All Settings > Notification Server > Connector > Import/Export Rules
    1. Right-click on the "Import/Export Rules" folder and select "New > Report Export Rule"



    2. Give a name to the newly created Report Export Rule
    3. Configure all the settings under the new Report Export Rule created. Here is an example of how to do it:
      1. For the Data Source field, select the Data Source that you created above
      2. For the Export Report field, select the report that you want to export
      3. Provide all the other needed information. Here is an example:

      4. After adding all the needed information, Save the new rule.
      5. Now you can wait until the scheduled time to run your rule, click on the Row Now button, or even click on the Test Rule button to test what you have done so far.
