There is a requirement to mask geography data type fields in SQL Server that contains spatial coordinates.
Is there a way to mask these fields using existing functions in FastDataMasker ?
I tried fixed function and HASHLOV, but the tool was throwing Java ClassCastException.
(I believe these functions support only character, numeric and DateTime datatypes and hence I got the exception)
FDM and TDM do not currently support geography data type
Release: 4.8.X 4.9.X
Component: CA Test Data Manager - Fast Data Masker
Currently, we do not support the masking of Geography Data type stored in a database in any version of FDM or TDM.
To have this supported added you would need to open an Enhancement request on our idea wall to have the product management team look into adding this in a future release.
There are possible workarounds.
1) export the data to a file, mask it, then import it again.
2) copy the data to a readable column formant., mask it, then copy it back.
