Full/Half width character handling in Data Protection Keywords or Regular Expressions list

Issue/Introduction

When a keyword list is defined in data protection policy, the rule triggers for both full-width (double-byte) and half-width (single-byte) characters, regardless of which format is specified in the list. This occurs consistently in both directions.

Cause

Data Protection Keywords or Regular Expressions list does not distinguish Full-width and Half-width for some characters.

Resolution

As a workaround, please consider other detection rather than sequence of the specific character in Subject or Body of the email, such as email header values could be an alternative. 

Broadcom is aware of this issue and will update this document once the solution becomes available. There is no need to log a support case regarding this issue.
