Connection and/or inventory update failure - vmware probe

Issue/Introduction

The following alarm is reported very frequently, despite the fact there is no issue in vCenter:

vcenter is not responding (reason: Connection and/or inventory update failure)

Environment

DX UIM 20.4.x  / 23.4.x

VMWARE probe

Cause

The probe does not have enough available memory

Resolution

Please make sure you're using VMware-7.1.6 or later.

In addition, make sure you check the sizing guidelines but you should have at least 2048/4096 Java heap min and max configured. It's normally much higher for a larger environment. You can find sizing recommendations here:

After configuring the memory, deactivate the probe, then activate it. If 2048/4096 sizing is not enough, double the values.
